Oblivious Transcendence
The things one fears the most may not be as bad as one envisions. But what about death? How can one envision the unknown? The timid mind overproduces illusionary thoughts that sabotage acceptance of life’s final event. As a designer, I am interested in video and typography and language. Oblivious Transcendence explores death as being a series of phases, leading to the ultimate transcendent self. A welcoming cinematic experience, not a frightening one. Instead of pushing away frightful thoughts about death, one is encouraged to befriend it. The mind is a powerful force. Not only does it make what we fear worse than it is, but the mind wanders. It gets in the way and can take over. Writing helps to address one’s fears. The poster series designed to accompany the video acknowledges this and encourages viewers to speculate about life and death, mind and matter, fear and acceptance.
