Packaging waste contributes to the largest category of waste. Every year, ten million tons of plastic waste ends up in our oceans (there is a plastic island in the North Pacific), negatively impacting entire ecosystems. If packaging was manufactured exclusively from sustainable materials, this problem might be nipped in the bud. Beauty Saves the Day introduces a sustainable alternative to traditional cosmetic packaging: a glass container packaged in a tightly woven wool sleeve. Each sleeve resembles an endangered species, heightening awareness of the species’ grim plight. The wool is biodegradable and compostable, and a renewable resource sourced from ethical and sustainable farms.
