Rotting Youth
We don’t live long, relatively speaking. No matter what we do to preserve life, our bodies rot and get smelly. That’s life. It’s short so we need to live well while we can and actually do stuff. As we age, our bones become like pencils, our face sags, our mind floats away. Some lose their gusto and pride. We only get one go round in life, so it’s important to live it up while we’re still young. But that’s difficult because, when we’re young, like in our 20s, there is so much to do and experience, it’s hard to process it all. So, do we play it safe and live comfortably and quietly until we’re old, or do we really let loose and go wild and maybe die prematurely. It’s hard to know. It was so much easier being a scab picking child. I spoke with several people about all this and Rotting Youth is based on my interviews with them, my own experience, and research. Rotting Youth is about what it means to young through my writings, posters, objects, and stickers. Because this time is confusing
